Rosicky back and Rugby at the Emirates?
No, I’m not talking about a change of playing style at the Emirates from Arsenal. I’m talking about the sport rugby. Which could have a game or two played at the Emirates. Great!!
It surely is an ambitious plan, I would in fact say it is extremely brave. Reading about it today it seems that access and advertising could make this venture impossible. To be honest and I hate to say this, but out of the two obstacles mentioned above, advertising seems the more important one. Are clubs willing to basically cover up their sponsors for a certain period so that the Rugby lot can paste theirs on it? Unlikely isn’t it?
Access doesn’t even seem to come into it that much, I’m sure the clubs would try and accommodate. Our ground, the home of football boasts probably the best pitch in the country. I’ve yet to see it really cut up like at Wembley, Old Trafford or the Stamford Bridge. It is one aspect where we lead the table and possibly we could be a victim our own success.
Talk of Rosicky returning to training for the first time in a very long time have cheered Gooners around. When I read on arsenal.com I thought the quotes were a bit dated. For now, the news is something I like many others will believe because we WANT to.
For long I felt he was going to be our Peirlugi Casiraghi. In case you don’t know, this was the Chelsea player that was on the injury table for at over 3 years. Signed in 1998, injured in November 1998 and 10 operations later, released in March 2002. Sad end it must be said, but at least now he is assistant manager of Italy U-21′s.
Anyway, I just feel Arsenal need to be very careful with Rosicky. Personally, I don’t see him playing more than 20 games per season. It would just be nice to firstly see him back on the Emirates turf and then play a few games here and there. Who knows he could be our experienced midfielder that won those tight games. Now that would be nice wouldn’t it?

It’ll be interesting about Rosicky. The guy’s been playing competitive football since he was a teenager (10+ years). His body’s knackered. He needed a break. He had one year off with surgery and recuperation, which is what his doctors advised. Will he make it back? I don’t know. The guys still only 28, but physically (amount of games + injuries) he’s probably 33. He’ll get a bunch of soft-tissue injuries as he comes back, since we’re the Arsenal and we always fluff our injury management (think of Gallas, van Persie and Eduardo). Will he have the desire to come back again after he keeps straining hamstrings three or four times next season? I’m not sure. I hope so, because he’s still got a lot to offer the Arsenal.
Rugby at the Emirates? Whatever to earn a buck and bring in Villa.
I suppose when you become a pro so early, injuries are just inevitable unless you feature in a big squad where you can get the rest here and there. Definitely agree that he will keep getting those minor injuries. I thought it was more to do with all that running on and off the ball, but when Eduardo got injured after 8 minutes coming on a sub you just know that luck isn’t our friend when it comes to player fitness.
