Possibly the most ridiculous Arsenal transfer rumour this summer?

If the title sounds a tad sensationalist, I apologize. The headline is merely there to state my disgust. Few blog posts ago I had said I wouldn’t comment extensively on transfer rumours. But when I came across this one, I was annoyed.

Robin Van Persie to Manchester Utd.

Don’t worry folks, it isn’t real. As you have all heard, RVP is going to sign a new contract anyway, soon, that is of circa £70k a week. Considering that he had his most productive season last year I feel that is deserved.

But Manchester united featuring in this transfer rumour? It was strange reading about that. Why would they want to sign him anyway? Wouldn’t they rather sign Owen who according to his 32 page brochure, played a lot more games than RVP :P Yes, I was flicking through this brochure myself actually and I think Owen be an ideal signing for my pub down the road. But that is neither here or there.

Let us pose the question the other way around. Why would RVP want to join Utd? This is the same Utd team who are going to lose two out of the magic quartet that were only beaten by the beautiful Barcelona. Personally, I wouldn’t join a selling club. Would you?

For all his misfortune in previous years with regards to injuries, RVP is an immensely gifted player. People talk up Rooney, Tevez for their work rate and outstanding talent but it is often forgotten that we have RVP who is technically miles better than them. You only have to see the stunning goals he has scored and the amount of assists he set up. He would never score as many as Wright, Henry but RVP will be a legend soon if he isn’t already.

So Van Persie if you’re reading this, sign that Arsenal contract soon please.
